The Fuller Vocal Ensemble in Concert
Sunday, June 1, 2008, Dr. J. Frederick Davison conducted the Fuller Vocal Ensemble in the group’s first full length concert entitled “Love Never Fails” at Knox Presbyterian Church in Pasadena. The program featured works of living composers that communicate various aspects of God’s love and our response to that love, including the premiere performance of “Surely, He Hath Borne Our Griefs”, conducted by composer Dr. Edwin M. Willmington, Director of the Fred Bock Institute of Music. Those in attendance commented on what an outstanding experience the concert was for them. The varied selection of music provided a time for rest, reflection, worship, and renewal.
The Fuller Vocal Ensemble was founded in 2000 by Dr. Davison, the Executive Director of the Brehm Center for Worship, Theology, and the Arts at Fuller Seminary. This select group of 16-20 singers from the Fuller community performs diverse styles of sacred music from a variety of cultures and traditions. The ensemble frequently performs at Fuller chapel services and special events on and off campus.
