All Three in One
Great Day!
Our second Forming
Hearts, Creating Art conference for worship leaders is coming soon after
the New Year - February 16, 2008. This
year we welcome three individuals and groups that will be hard to surpass for
one day - Irish modern hymnists, Keith and Kristyn Getty; British
composer/conductor, Sir John Rutter; and retired chaplain of the U.S. Senate,
Dr. Lloyd John Ogilivie. What a group!

Originally from Ireland, Keith and Kristyn Getty
will present their unique modern hymnody during our times of worship. Keith is most familiar to many as the
co-writer of the popular worship song, In
Christ Alone. The music that Keith
and Kristyn present will provide a great new resource for congregational
worship. Their spirit of servanthood and
spiritual focus will rise to the surface during our day together. We are so excited to have Keith and Kristyn
join us for the day!
Secondly, the renowned British composer and conductor John Rutter
will present some of his best choral music, along with his personal comments
behind the writing of each piece. Having
been knighted for his major contribution to music and arts in Great Britain, Sir John will be in Los Angeles as the guest
conductor for the concert on the following evening, February 17, presented by
the Mark Thallander Foundation.
And, as if those people were not enough, we will cap off the
day with a wonderful biblical exposition of the Gospel of John, chapter four,
from Dr. Lloyd John Ogilvie. Dr. Ogilvie
was for many years the pastor of Hollywood Presbyterian Church, and followed
that ministry with several years as Chaplain of the U.S Senate. His study and thoughts related to worshiping
in spirit and in truth are sure to inspire us in our worship ministries.

Another
Date to Mark...Thallander, That Is!
The day
after Forming Hearts, Creating Art is
another event you won't want to miss! February 17th at 7:30 p.m. at what is called
the L.A. Cathedral. The Cathedral and the Mark Thallander Foundation will
co-host this marvelous event. This will be a concert of voices - hundreds of
voices - and instruments! It is a
concert not to be missed! The Cathedral
is about the only place that has space for all of the musicians - both adults
and children - who will join hearts and sounds in a concert entitled, Let Your Joy Be Known! The guest conductor this year
will be Sir John Rutter, renowned British compose/conductor. He will conduct his own music, and the music
of Fred Bock, as we commemorate 10 years since Fred's passing from creating
music in this life to participating in the eternal music of heaven.

Preaching with Passion
One of the partner institutes with the Fred Bock Institute
of Music is the Lloyd John Ogilvie Institute of Preaching. One of the efforts of the Ogilvie Institute
is to gather no more than fifty pastors at two different times each year for an
intensive time with Dr. Ogilvie and other pastor/mentors. These conferences are called Preaching With Passion. In early October, fifty pastors gathered for
an inspiring three days on the Fuller Seminary campus for a PWP conference. Ed Willmington guided the worship times at
the beginning of the seven sessions over the course of the three-day
conference. Fred Bock served as Minister
of Music with Dr. Ogilvie at the Hollywood Presbyterian Church for many years,
so to put the two institutes together in this way is a great blessing.
If you know a pastor who you would like to invite to attend
the next PWP conference in January
2008, you can find more information and register HERE!

Denver SDA Worship Conference
In late October, Ed Willmington was one of the guest
speakers at a worship conference held at the 1st Seventh-Day Adventist
Church in Denver, CO. Ed's topic was "Creative Tension in
Worship." Ed was joined by Fuller
professors, Todd Johnson ("Worship In a Changing World"), Clay Schmit
("Performing the Word"), and Roberta King ("Worship and Diversity").
