...Spiritual Formation
Often the worship leader doesn't take the time needed for personal spiritual formation. Certainly spiritual formation is needed by all followers of Christ, but the high visibility of those who lead people into God presence should of ALL people be constantly considering the condition of their soul, mind and heart. The priestly nature of the worship leader should cause each leader to establish personal disciplines that continually take steps forward on their spiritual journey.
A Dutch theologian likened the soul to the Temple of the Old Testament. He said that the soul has an outer court - where daily life is lived. The soul has an inner court - where family and close friends are welcome. Then there is that "holy of holies," where it is one person with their God - that's the part that needs transforming most of all. Regardless of how young or old you are, start forming...and transforming!
Here are a couple of books to assist in the process of spiritual formation.
- Spiritual Leadership by Oswald Sanders
- Renovation of the Heart by Dallas Willard
